Instead of making him say “I love you,” he told SRK to simply say "Palat" and see if Simran looks back. If she did, it would mean she loves him too. Shah Rukh Khan wasn’t sure if it would work, but when they shot the scene, Kajol turned back exactly as Chopra had envisioned.
