Cricket is heading back to the United States. The so-called "gentlemen's game" with complex rules, funnily worded fielding positions and matches that go on for five days is hardly high up in America's national consciousness but it wasn't always this way. Cricket was regarded in the mid-19th century as something of a popular pastime in the United States after it was brought over by immigrants. Baseball became the dominant bat-and-ball game in America by the time of the Civil War in the 1860s and cricket tailed off. Now it's making a comeback of sorts. The Twenty20 World Cup being co-hosted by the U.S. as cricket seeks to expand to a new market.
