Cricket was regarded in the mid-19th century as something of a popular pastime in the United States after it was brought over by immigrants. Baseball became the dominant bat-and-ball game in America by the time of the Civil War in the 1860s and cricket tailed off. Now it's making a comeback of sorts. The Twenty20 World Cup being co-hosted by the U.S. as cricket seeks to expand to a new market.
