Learn & play chess at the local Public Library
Seven youngsters (right) and teacher, David McCall (above), compete in chess matches last week at the Schulenburg Public Library. Sponsored by McCall, the Schulenburg Chess Club is free to ages 5 and up. It meets every Wednesday at the Public Library from 4:45-5:45 p.m. McCall taught science for 15 years, served as an elementary school counselor for 20 years, and has spent 19 years as a scholastic chess coach. He provides free chess lessons and starts each SCC meeting with a short lesson, followed by casual play time and International Chess Foundation rules.
