
Oskar Olausson, the Avalanche's 2021 first-round draft pick, was among five roster cuts following Sunday's 6-3 loss to Utah Hockey Club. Olausson dressed in each of the first two preseason games, finishing with one assist and four shots while averaging 15:09 in ice time. This was perhaps his best chance to crack the roster given some of the names the team will start the season without. But the 21-year-old struggled to stick out and has seemingly been passed up by both 19-year-old Calum Ritchie and 24-year-old Nikolai Kovalenko.
